Self care and grooming as an act of devotion to the physical form

Throughout the many years working in this industry I’ve had moments where I’ve thought “ripping out hair is meaningless” “it’s just modern conditioning that makes people believe they need to be smooth”.

Getting to the root of things, though (yes pun intended) I’ve realized that self care and grooming is an act of devotion. It is preparation for worship - from yourself, from the earth, from another.

Providing this service to folks is actually Priestess Work. In ancient matriarchies and in Ancient Greece where Priestess Work was highly valued, readying the body for worship involved many forms of beautifying. Body oiling, hair oiling, massage, soaking in spring water, hair removal. Seashells were used as tweezers and honey was used for waxing.

There is no shame in liking the feel of smooth skin - OR liking the feel of body hair! Whichever suits your fancy. Whichever makes you feel closest to the sacred being you are. That’s the point! Taking Care is a Sacred Thing.
